Welcome to Paradise Gardens
Paradise Gardens is located one block off the main road in the small town of Hinds, 13kms south of Ashburton in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island.
The tranquil gardens, set in over half an acre, boast a collection of 1,500 dahlias with over 480 different varieties on display. These include cactus, semi cactus, decorative, water lily, pompon, ball, orchid, and fimbriated varieties. They range in size from giant (flower over 250mm in diameter) to micro (flower under 50mm in diameter). Paradise Gardens will endeavor to supply the dahlia of your choice either by tuber, pot tuber or green cutting.
John and Jeanette Cuthbertson have been growing and showing dahlias for over 30 years. They have gained considerable success on the show bench and in 2001 raised the white water lily 'Joal Louisa'. John and Jeanette's pride and attention to detail have stood them in good stead with New Zealand's dahlia growing community which has earned them a great reputation. They are both eager to assist and guide you with your selection whether for competitive exhibition or for the home garden.
Paradise Gardens is also the home for the National Dahlia Society of New Zealand's South Island Trial Grounds.
Take the time to stop and stroll around the well laid out dahlia beds while the beautiful Monarch Butterfly hovers over the orange and yellow collerette 'Pooh'.
